This game f-cking rocks!!!
Well I bought a soccer ball today so that we can all play when I get better... hell, lets start this week! All who want to play, please say I... seriously... I miss Soccer so much. I really want to play. When I get back to surfing, and playing Soccer I'm gonna be sta-oked!!!
Anyway... I just recently saw "Night of the Living Dead" at around 1 in the morning the other night and it got me thinking about the movies in the series and why I like them...So if nobody opposes... I'm gonna get this out of my system and write down why!
I first saw the original "Night of the Living Dead" a few months ago with Robin. The first thing I thought was... Damn this is creepy. NOTLD is one of those flicks that you just have to watch late at night. It doesn't work in the day time as well. It's one of the ultimate midnight masterpeices! It's the perfect horror flick to watch with buddy's late in the night (Raining would be better)! I can only imagine what the people of the 60's were thinking when they saw a black man fighting off Zombies that we're eating people's flesh... Probably just a simple "WTF?" Part of the appeal is also the low budget graininess. It feels like you're actually trapped in a farm-house.

I expected the same thing with "Dawn of the Dead", but it was actually the complete opposite. It was more comic book like and not as scary... actually I didn't think it was scary at all. But what I liked about this one was that it was very apocolytic and that kind of stuff does freak me out. One of the coolest parts was that it had metaphors about society and consumerism... It actually reminded me of the stuff I was thinking in High School. The gore was super cheesy and the blood was a bright Ketchup red... that was another part of the movie that most people probably wouldn't care for, but I thought it added to the comic book feel to the movie!

When I first saw "Day of the Dead", I thought it sucked. To much arguing and bitching and not enough Zombie's!!! But the second time I saw, I thought it was probably the best in the series. The Zombies looked cool... And I realized that the whole point of the movie was that the characters argued. It's about a common goal (To kill something/go to war/etc.), but nobody agree's on which way to solve it, and the end result is failure. I thought that was actually ahead of it's time! America should listen. Actually, the whole world should listen. Fuck fighting... take care of the world first. The other point was that society will be responsible for it's own demise (Which is hard to argue with at the state of the world right now). This movies also got the coolest Zombie ever!!! BUB!

"Land of the Dead" was the most political. It had direct undertones to the war and 9/11. Basically it's about power sending everyone else off to do the dirty work when they sit around comfortably watching. Also it's about the classes of people and how goverment (Our goverment) walks all over the poor to get what they want. The other thing is that it expands on "Day", by using the whole theme about the Zombies getting smarter... I thought that was cool... Kind of like Rome. It fell because they thought they we're going to stay all powerful... but people got wise to their shit.

THE BEST PART ABOUT ALL OF 'EM... THEY'RE ZOMBIE MOVIES!!!
So... I know probably no one cares, but I needed to get that out of my system... I've been wanting to write it for a while! |
